ISSUE 74: Styling the Maldive Pillows
The Maldives Kilim Pillows might be two of my favorite pillows right now, simply for the color alone. Their rich Caribbean green coloring is enough to satisfy my color craving. …but such simple pillows need mates.
I couldn’t help myself but pair them with the Festival Patterned Lumbar Kilim Pillow. It pulled the same greenish tones, and topped it off with shades of hot pink, vibrant orange, and soft blues. It was everything they ever needed.
When it came to the small area rug, I went with the patterned black and white block print rug to contribute to the bohemian feel without overwhelming the scene. Since the pillows already provided a substantial pop of color I wanted to keep the rest neutral. Especially, since the vibrant pots also blended with the pillows. Again, just like with the Ember pillow in the last home decor post, I kept my table top pottery neutral with white Moroccan vases on top the white and black side table, and accented with a turquoise Egyptian canopic jar and a large piece of malachite my husband brought back rom the DRC.
The goal was cohesion through complimentary colors on a neutral backdrop, allowing the pillows to pop while adding interest with a patterned rug.
