ISSUE 60: Behind the Photo 'Black & White Giraffe'

WHERE & WHEN WAS THIS PHOTO TAKEN?

This photo was taken in March of 2017 while on road trip from Namibia to Zimbabwe with my husband. This photo was taken in Zambezi National Park in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

IS THIS YOUR FAVORITE PRINT FROM THIS THAT TRIP, IF NOT, WHAT IS?

From that trip, probably not...but it's up there. I think the print that I am partial to from that trip is Monkey With Leaves

WHY DID YOU PICK THIS PICTURE TO SELL?

I picked this picture because I have a fondness for giraffes that was instilled upon me by my husband. They are Brad's favorite animal. I love the close up of this beautiful male. I love that you can see that his horns are worn off from fighting, the clean line of his mane, and that you can see his eyelashes. He looks so friendly.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THIS PHOTO?

Just the nature of it. He looks so sweet, and I'd love to pet him or give a kiss between the eyes. haha.

WHAT IS YOUR PREFERRED SIZE FOR THIS PHOTO?

If I were printing this for me, I would probably go with the 16"x24".

WHAT KIND OF SPACE WOULD YOU PUT THIS PHOTOGRAPH IN?

Whenever I look this, I picture it above a bedside table.  I even thought about mirroring it, and hanging them as a set in my own bedroom.

DO YOU HAVE THIS PRINT IN YOUR HOME?

No, I don't. I thought about it, but couldn't commit. I still have a lot of empty wall space for hanging photos. But I already have two other giraffe prints, so I didn't want people to think I am obsessed.

WHAT TYPE OF FRAME WOULD YOU SUGGEST FOR THIS PRINT?

For this one, I would definitely go with a clean black mat. To me, this giraffe feels a little more contemporary because of being black & white. ..plus, I love clean lines around a photograph so that it doesn't take away from the photograph. I always say, pick something, too, that will stand the test of time if you feel it's not something you won't want to spend money on to change later.
